Famous Alumni

Billy Wolfe Class of 1969

He discovered Richie Sambora/Tico Torres/ as well Alex Such, who later became a major part of BON JOVI. They were in a Woodbridge Township group called "Panthom's Opera", that had a great lead singer just called "Doc" who was a real doctor at Perth Amboy General Hospital. He also discover a guy, who was attending Princeton University in the late 1970's named Jason Alexander who later became a hit on the NBC hit television series Steinfeld and who is still very famous even today. While in high school, he worked for a booking agency in New York City that had such pioneers from the early days of rock and roll as Chuck Berry;Danny & The Juniors; The Coasters;The Drifters;Bo Diddley; The Shirelles; The Angels as well worked with Jerry Lewis on his annual Labor Day Telethon for M.D. He helped to raise millions of dollars for kids suffering from M.D., by having many of the acts that his booking agency booked perform for many years for nothing because he believed that it was the only right human thing to do...help some kids who needed alittle help from the entertainment business. He later when onto professional wrestling promotion, with such wrestlers as Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka; Black Jack Mulligan; Nikita Koloff; Boogie Woogie Jimmy Valiant and Bam Bam Bigelow to name only afew that I can only remember. He still promotes wrestling matches, but only on the local high school scene as a major fund raiser for charity.

Joseph "Ducky Wucky" Medwick Class of 1930

Joe Medwick went on to play professional baseball with the St. Louis Cardinals, Brooklyn Dogers and then New York Yankees. He is still only National League player, to have won the Triple Crown. As well the only professional baseball player, credited with being removed from a World Series in order to get the game and series finished and over with. This took place during the 7th, and final game of the 1934 World Series between the Detroit Tigers and the St. Louis Cardinals. In 1934, while visiting with the Pope in Rome after winning the 1934 World Series. Joe told the Pope, that it was nice for a Cardinal to be meeting THE POPE! Joe died doing what he loved the most, playing baseball and coaching batting for the St. Louis Cardinals at their spring training camp in St. Petersburg, Flordia.

Art McMahon Class of 1968

Art played Football Basketball as well Baseball at CHS, went onto North Carolina State University with a football career. He signed a professional contract to play for the then Boston Patroits and now the New England Patroits where he played several years to retire to a successful career in law these days!

Edward Mantie Class of 1968

Known for his baseball football and basketball talents, Ed went onto being signed to a major league baseball contact and was hurt during spring training and took his liking to teaching somewhere in upstate New York. He continues to teach young students, while remember his glowing playing days!

Howard Finkle Class of 1968

Known always for announcing Carteret High's football/basketball meetings, Howard Finkle after leaving CHS became the well-known ring announcer for the first World Wrestling Federation (WWE) then World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) for the past many years! Howard continues to be active within the WWE, as a special consultant to Vincent Kennedy McMahon the son of the late founder Vincent Mcmahon, Sr. when he is not somewhere on the road announcing a major live wrestling event like a Wrestlemania or Raw event seem all over the world!
